My name is Phil and I have served in worship leadership since 2003 and God has faithfully guided me through the open doors and fueled a passion within me to see worship renewal take place. I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and received my undergraduate degree in ministry from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. I later earned a Master of Arts in Worship Studies from Liberty Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Music and Worship and a Certificate in Media and Technology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I am also an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene, a protestant denomination.
I have had the privilege of serving in various worship leadership roles; including local churches of various sizes, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, international events, and many camps, retreats, revivals and conferences. I have also served churches in Oregon, Kansas, Virginia, Illinois, and Oklahoma. It has also been an honor to guest lecture, teach, and facilitate workshops in diverse settings, including MidAmerica Nazarene University, PALCON, M15, Spark, and Nazarene Bible College. I founded Converge, a one-day worship conference in 2015 and in 2020 I founded the Worship Arts Collective. Both are born out of the desire to see a community of people come together and worship God in a holistic way, including through the avenues of music, sound, lighting, art, drama, and rich imagery rooted in the person and presence of Christ. My hope is that we can embrace our diversity in unity and love in order to worship God in the way that He intends. I feel called to serve the Kingdom of God by directing the spiritual and theological formation of individuals and congregations: 1) as a pastor and worship leader, shaping and leading the worship of the church; and 2) as a teacher, equipping future generations of Christian leaders. I have been married to my wife, Angelia since 2008 and we have two children; our daughter Maisie and son Hendrick. I am an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and cheer for the KC Royals and Chiefs. |
